Moon Bugs Overview
Moon Bugs is a space shooter where players protect Earth from insectoid aliens. The gameplay combines elements from Galaxian and Defender, focusing on defending resources.
Enemy bugs attempt to steal uranium drums from the bottom of the screen. Players must shoot these carriers before they escape off the top to recover the drums. A space station on the left collects all drums and connects to a satellite dish on the right to complete a level.
Scoring is tied directly to resource management. Each successfully secured drum at level's end awards 200 points, while each lost drum incurs a 200 point penalty. This creates a challenging risk-reward dynamic during defense.
Periodically, a UFO crosses the top of the screen. Shooting it may yield bonus points or trigger a special combat round. In this round, players fire at a fast-moving alien that changes direction with each hit, awarding 350 points per successful shot.
