Tyrian 2000 Overview
Tyrian 2000 is an enhanced version of the earlier shoot 'em up Tyrian. The player assumes the role of pilot Trent Hawkings, who engages in a series of missions against the corporate entity MicroSol. This conflict involves a narrative with recurring betrayals and personal losses, requiring the protagonist to revisit certain locations under altered circumstances.
The game distinguishes itself within its genre through a detailed ship customization system. Players can modify their vessel's hull, select and improve various front and rear weapons, and upgrade defensive and power systems. The available equipment includes numerous ship models and over a hundred weapon types.
Beyond the single-player campaign, the software supports two-player cooperative or competitive play through local, network, or direct connection options. The 2000 re-release incorporates a new episode titled Hazudra Fodder, engine refinements for improved stability and control, compatibility with Windows operating systems, and an additional Timed Battle mode.
