Puzznic Overview
Puzznic is a puzzle game where the objective on each screen is to eliminate all blocks by bringing matching designs into contact. A cross-hair cursor allows the player to shift blocks horizontally, which can cause them to drop if the space below is empty.
The puzzle complexity arises from various level designs. Some blocks rest on moving platforms, requiring precise timing or order of moves to avoid dead ends. Other layouts feature an odd number of a block type, solved by positioning two of them a single space apart so that one move triggers a chain reaction clearing all three. Gaps and isolated platforms can necessitate building stacks to enable certain maneuvers.
Progress follows an unusual branching structure. After every four levels, the player selects one of two new level sets, navigating an expanding matrix. This results in 220 distinct screens in total. Each screen must be solved within a time limit, and failure either by time expiration or by creating an unsolvable position costs one of three lives, making the overall experience challenging.
