Bandit Kings of Ancient China is a military strategy title set during the fall of the Song Dynasty. The central conflict involves a usurper, Imperial Minister Gao Qiu, who has overthrown Emperor Hui Zhong.
Players assume the role of a deposed leader who must gradually build strength to confront this new ruler. This involves securing territory through conquest, engaging in battles, and forming political alliances. The ultimate objective is to depose Gao Qiu and restore the rightful emperor, but directly challenging him is challenging and requires first attaining sufficient power.
