Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a turn-based strategy game where the player assumes control of a warlord from Chinese history. Its setting and characters are derived from the 3rd century Three Kingdoms period and the novel Sanguo Yanyi.
The ultimate goal is to achieve dominance over the territories of the declining Han Dynasty. This requires expanding one's realm through the conquest of provinces and the recruitment of capable historical generals to lead military forces.
Players must manage a challenging array of obstacles to build their empire, including engaging in large-scale warfare, overcoming natural disasters, and seizing fortified enemy positions.
