Altered Beast Overview
Altered Beast is a platformer where players control a hero resurrected by Zeus. The objective is to advance through levels set in Ancient Greece, battling groups of undead enemies and demons. Each stage concludes with a boss encounter, culminating in a confrontation with the god Neff, who has kidnapped Athena.
The central mechanic involves collecting spirit balls from defeated two-headed wolves. This allows the character to transform into various powerful beasts, such as a werewolf, dragon, or bear. These forms, which are specific to certain levels, grant abilities like flight and enhanced attacks that surpass the basic combat moves of the human form.
The game supports both single-player and a same-screen cooperative multiplayer mode. Progression is structured around defeating the enemy hordes and bosses in each area to complete the rescue mission.
