Othello is a digital adaptation of the board game for the Game Boy. The objective is to control more spaces on the board than the opponent by converting discs to your own color. This is achieved by placing a disc to flank an opponent's line of discs, which then flip to match your color.
Play can involve two human opponents or a single player facing the computer. The match concludes once the board is completely occupied or a time limit expires, with victory going to the player who has converted the most discs.
