Othello World presents a Super Famicom version of the board game Reversi, structured around themed worlds. Each area contains five computer opponents, and players must defeat three of them to advance.
The opponents are drawn from literary and folkloric sources, including Shakespearean works and fairy tales, which connects to the Othello name's origins. Progress can be saved using passwords distributed after completing worlds. The ultimate challenge is a final adversary named Tamenori, a reference to a champion player, positioned as a challenging pinnacle opponent.
