Spy vs Spy Overview
Spy vs Spy for the Game Boy Color is a competitive mission where two agents race to gather specific objects. The required items are a passport, key, cash, and a CD, all of which must be placed inside a briefcase. The objective is completed by securing these and then reaching an exit door.
One player controls either the Black Spy or White Spy, with the option to compete against the computer or a second human player. Progress is recorded using a password system. The game world consists of four distinct locations, each containing multiple levels that share the same core goal.
Interaction between the two spies is a central mechanic. Players can directly attack each other with weapons like a knife or fists. Alternatively, they can set traps such as dynamite or springs within the rooms to hinder their opponent. The gameplay is challenging because being killed resets the spy to the starting point and removes all collected items. A map is provided to show room layouts, item locations, and the positions of traps or the rival spy.
Victory is determined solely by which spy successfully collects all the items and escapes first. A player cannot be permanently eliminated from a match, ensuring the contest continues until one fulfills all objectives. The visual presentation uses two-dimensional graphics.
