Mario Party Advance Overview
Mario Party Advance is a handheld adaptation that reorients the series around a single-player experience. The central activity involves navigating a large board called Shroom City, where players select from four characters, each beginning at a distinct location.
Progress is made by rolling dice to move across the board and undertaking quests for the city's residents. These tasks typically require finding an item or succeeding at a mini-game. Completing quests awards stars, which lead to confrontations with Bowser, and also unlocks mini-games and simple toy-like devices called Gaddgets.
A session concludes after a set number of turns, though more turns and dice rolls can be acquired by frequently occurring Mushroom Challenges. All unlocked content is saved for use in a dedicated Play Mode. Beyond the main adventure, other options include a shop for spending coins and modes for testing mini-game skills or dueling with a friend.
The game also incorporates a physical component, using a printed board where the Game Boy Advance handles random elements and events.
