Uncharted Waters Overview
Uncharted Waters is a simulation centered on maritime trade and exploration. Players begin by acquiring a ship and engaging in commerce between ports to generate income. The world contains multiple nations and pirate factions, whose relationships can affect travel. Overhead navigation allows for fleet movement across seas, where environmental hazards like storms and difficult currents are present. Land can be disembarked upon to search for resources.
The narrative follows Leon Franco, a Portuguese sailor seeking to restore his family's honor a century after its downfall. His personal ambition is to marry Christiana, a goal that requires accumulating significant fame. This fame can be increased by accepting various missions from merchants and royalty encountered during travels.
Ports serve as hubs for the game's systems, offering facilities for trading cargo, purchasing supplies, repairing ships, hiring crew, and gathering information. The primary structure is open-ended, allowing players to explore and undertake activities at their own pace while working toward the ultimate objective.
