Uncharted Waters Overview
Uncharted Waters is a simulation focused on maritime trade and exploration. Players control Leon Franco, a young Portuguese sailor seeking to restore his family's lost honor. His personal ambition is tied to marrying Christiana, a goal that requires accumulating significant fame.
The core activity involves managing a ship and sailing between ports to buy and sell cargo for profit. Ports offer various services, including trade markets, shipyards, supply depots, and taverns where information and crew can be found. The seas are populated by vessels from several nations and independent pirates, whose relations are not always peaceful.
Navigation uses an overhead perspective where the player directs a fleet, with options to land and search for resources. Maritime travel presents hazards such as storms, adverse winds, and hostile encounters. The progression is open-ended, allowing extensive exploration while undertaking tasks for various figures, including merchants and royalty.
