Progress is made by navigating rooms and gathering useful objects to overcome specific obstacles. A key system requires defeating certain enemies to accumulate spell power, which is necessary for other parts of the adventure. Direct contact with these hostile creatures is challenging as it drains the player's energy, leading to a permanent game over after a single life.
