Fantasy General Overview
Fantasy General is a turn based strategy title where players command armies across hex based battle maps. Its fantasy setting includes technological elements and a conflict against the Shadowlord's forces, which dominate the world. Victory requires assembling adaptable forces from ten unit types across four realms, each with numerous upgrade paths.
Players choose one of four unique heroes to lead a campaign across five continents, culminating in a final confrontation on Fire Isle. The strategic challenge is challenging, demanding adaptation to varied terrain like swamps and plains which drastically affect unit performance. Between battles, management involves recruitment, finance, and research.
Beyond the campaign, an arena mode allows for single battles against computer or human opponents. The game shares visual and engine similarities with Panzer General, though its mechanics are applied to a fantasy context.
