Strife Overview

Alt. Names: Strife: Quest for the Sigil, Strife: Trust No One

Strife is a first-person shooter built on the Doom engine, but it structures its experience around a continuous world rather than strictly linear levels. A central town acts as a hub where the player can move freely between missions, visit stores to buy equipment, and gather information in taverns.

The setting is a future Earth dominated by a tyrannical entity known as The Order, which emerged after global disasters and warfare. The player assumes the role of a wanderer recruited by a rebel faction aiming to overthrow this regime.

Gameplay incorporates elements uncommon in contemporary FPS titles of its time, such as non-hostile areas for dialogue with characters and the ability to purchase permanent health upgrades. The narrative features branching paths, with a key decision made by the player determining which of three possible endings is reached.
