Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders Overview
Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders is an expanded edition of the original fantasy action game. It builds upon the Doom engine, retaining that game's core combat mechanics while introducing new capabilities like vertical aiming, flight, and an inventory system.
The narrative centers on a world devastated by three Serpent Riders. With two having departed, the player, known as the Heretic, must confront the remaining rider D'Sparil to end his oppressive rule. This title represents the first entry in a series that would adapt id Software's technology for fantasy settings.
This version includes two additional episodes, bringing the total to five. Players who owned the initial three-episode release could update their game to this complete edition through a freely available patch.
