D/Generation Overview
D/Generation is an isometric action and puzzle game set within a Singapore biotechnology facility called Genoq Biolabs. The player assumes the role of a courier who becomes trapped inside after arriving to deliver a package.
The facility is in a state of crisis, with a malfunctioning security system and dangerous genetically engineered organisms roaming freely. The core objective involves navigating ten floors of the building, a process that is challenging and requires solving environmental puzzles while managing threats. Interacting with computer terminals, locating weapons, and finding survivors are part of the exploration.
The narrative raises several mysteries, including the cause of the disaster, the contents of the delivery package, and the meaning of the title itself. These questions culminate in a final confrontation on the building's top floor.
Later releases for Windows, Macintosh, and Xbox One introduced enhanced high-resolution graphics, a new musical score, and a redesigned control interface. These versions also added quality-of-life features like the ability to save progress at any point, alongside integrated leaderboards and achievement systems.
