Mega Man X2 Overview
Mega Man X2 is set in a period following the defeat of Sigma, the former leader of the Maverick army. The protagonist, X, has since become the head of the Maverick Hunters, an organization tasked with dealing with remaining hostile Reploids.
His mission to eliminate these final threats is complicated by the emergence of the X-Hunters. This group has obtained the remains of Zero, X's former ally, and intends to revive him for their own cause. Their goal is to have Zero fight for them and for the return of Sigma to power.
The core objective for X is to confront the X-Hunters, prevent the resurrection of his comrade under enemy control, and stop Sigma from regaining his strength. This creates a layered conflict beyond a simple hunt for remaining Mavericks.
