Hong Kong 97 Overview
Hong Kong 97 is a shooter set against the backdrop of the 1997 sovereignty transfer. The player controls Chin, the brother of Bruce Lee, who is dispatched by a protectionist government to confront an invasion force led by a reincarnated Tong Shau Ping.
Gameplay involves firing at endless waves of enemies while avoiding their projectiles, a challenging task of survival. The visual presentation uses crude digitized sprites for characters and assorted thematic images for backgrounds. A short, repeating audio loop of the children's song I Love Beijing Tiananmen plays continuously throughout.
The sole boss encounter is Tong Shau Ping, who appears after surviving the initial onslaught. Defeating him does not end the game; instead, it resets the cycle, which continues indefinitely until the player's character dies.
