Castlevania: Dracula X centers on Richter Belmont, a descendant of a lineage long opposed to the vampire Count Dracula. The conflict is reignited when Dracula, resurrected by occultists, captures Annette and Maria Renard to lure out the Belmont heir.
Richter is compelled to wield the Vampire Killer whip and journey to Dracula's castle. His objective is to defeat the count and rescue the hostages, continuing a familial struggle that originated with an ancestor named Sonia Belmont centuries earlier.
The narrative establishes a challenging confrontation against a recurring supernatural foe. The setting is a gothic landscape perpetually under threat from Dracula's reign of terror, which began in Transylvania.
