Sword of Vermilion is a role-playing game set in a medieval fantasy world. The player controls a young man who learns he is a prince, the son of the late King Erik, and must journey across the land of Excalabria.
This quest involves gathering eight magic Rings of Good and facing numerous boss enemies, culminating in a confrontation with the evil King Tsarkon. The gameplay shifts between different visual perspectives: a top-down view for navigating towns, a first-person view for overworld travel, and a side-scrolling perspective for action-based combat sequences.
