SRD: Super Real Darwin Overview
SRD: Super Real Darwin is a vertical scrolling shooter for the Sega Genesis, adapted from a 1987 arcade release. Its central mechanic involves collecting enemy DNA to transform the player's ship into numerous distinct forms, each with unique weaponry.
The narrative framework involves a conflict between two planets, Lakya and Cokyo, centered on a life force called Evol. After this energy is inadvertently released by Lakya and weaponized by Cokyo, Lakyan pilots must utilize the Evol to repel the invasion.
Beyond the evolution system, gameplay is supported by other collectible enhancements. These power-ups can modify the ship's velocity, deploy a trailing option unit, or amplify the effect of smart bombs. The overall aesthetic is characterized by a surreal, futuristic visual design.
