Shaq Fu Overview
Shaq Fu is a fighting game where the player controls basketball figure Shaquille O'Neal. The premise involves Shaq being transported to another dimension during a trip to Tokyo, tasked with rescuing a child by battling through a series of eleven consecutive foes.
The combat system operates in a one-on-one format, drawing clear inspiration from titles like Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat. A story mode structures this progression, while separate options allow for single or two-player matches, though Shaq must always be one of the selected combatants.
Visuals were created using rotoscoping, a method seen in games such as Prince of Persia, which helped animate the character's notably tall stature. In terms of mechanics, Shaq possesses an exceptionally long jump, but his defensive capabilities are limited, making effective blocking challenging.
