Street Fighter Overview
Street Fighter is a 2D fighting game supporting both solo and two-player competition. The single-player campaign follows the martial artist Ryu as he travels to five different countries, each with two opponents to defeat, culminating in a final battle in Thailand.
Victory in a match is achieved by winning two out of three rounds, which involves depleting the opponent's health. While basic punches and kicks are available, the combat system is defined by special moves like the Hadoken fireball, the Shoryuken uppercut, and the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku kick. Executing these requires precise inputs, making the gameplay challenging as opponents will capitalize on mistakes.
The roster features adversaries such as Adon, Gen, and Birdie, who would later appear in other series titles. The final opponent is Sagat, the Muay Thai champion. After his defeat, the game restarts at a higher difficulty. Bonus stages, like breaking objects, appear between certain matches.
In the two-player mode, the second player controls Ken, a character visually similar to Ryu. The players compete in one match, after which the winner continues alone against the computer-controlled fighters.
