Xevious Overview
Xevious The Avender is a vertically scrolling shooter where the player controls the Solvalou fighter craft. This aircraft is armed with two separate weapons systems, one for engaging airborne foes and another for bombing ground installations.
The narrative involves an ancient civilization that created the GAMP system and later departed Earth for the planet Xevious. In the present, Xevians plan an invasion of Earth, a threat revealed by the pilot Mu, his android Eve, and a dissenting Xevian named Mio. The setting is distinct for taking place over Earth, specifically showcasing South American landscapes, rather than in outer space.
Gameplay requires managing threats from both the air and the ground, a dual enemy system introduced by this title. Ground targets include SOL towers generated by GAMP. Enemy aircraft exhibit varied attack patterns, and some adversaries cannot be destroyed by the Solvalou's weapons, making evasion necessary. This creates a challenging dynamic where target prioritization and avoidance are key.
