Road Runner is a game where the player controls the character of the same name. The primary objective is to avoid capture by Wile E. Coyote while navigating a hazardous road environment.
Points are awarded for consuming birdseed found along the path. A secondary scoring method involves tricking Wile E. Coyote into colliding with environmental dangers like trucks or falling rocks. The gameplay is challenging as the Road Runner must manage these threats and maintain its energy by eating.
An exception exists in the Atari 2600 release, where consuming birdseed is optional and serves only to increase the player's score.
