R.B.I. Baseball Overview
R.B.I. Baseball is a sports simulation for the NES that features ten licensed teams, including specific clubs like Detroit and San Francisco as well as All-Star selections. The game's rosters are composed of real Major League players from the 1986 and 1987 seasons, with their in-game performance modeled on statistical profiles from that period.
Two primary modes of play are available. A single-player pennant race consists of a nine-game season against computer opponents. For multiplayer, a best-of-seven series allows direct competition between two human players, each selecting from the available teams.
Effective management requires leveraging knowledge of the actual athletes, as the attributes of players like Reggie Jackson or Fernando Valenzuela reflect their documented strengths and weaknesses. This integration of real-world data forms the core strategic layer of the title.
