George Foreman's KO Boxing Overview
George Foreman's KO Boxing is a sports simulation for the NES where the player controls the titular heavyweight champion through a twelve-round tournament. The objective is to win the championship belt by defeating a series of opponents.
Matches are viewed from behind the boxer, allowing movement to dodge and the ability to block or throw punches. Basic crosses and jabs form the primary offense, while successful evasion and striking can build up a more powerful superpunch. Each bout lasts a maximum of three rounds, and a knockdown requires rapidly pressing both punch buttons to stand up.
The game tracks a boxer's condition with an energy meter that depletes when hit. Some energy recovers after a knockdown and between rounds. A match ends if a fighter is knocked down four times total or three times within one round. The experience is challenging, requiring timing and stamina management across multiple fights. Progress can be saved with a password system, and most versions support two-player competition.
