Stadium Events Overview
Stadium Events is a track and field video game designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It requires a specific floor controller, the Power Pad, for play and supports a maximum of six participants, though only two can use the pad simultaneously. The software was later distributed under the title World Class Track Meet.
Gameplay centers on athletic events, including running and jumping disciplines. The 100 meter dash and 110 meter hurdles are running events, while the long jump and triple jump test leaping ability. In a mode for multiple human players, the running events allow two competitors at once, but jumping events are conducted one participant at a time.
A single player mode features a series of computer-controlled opponents with increasing speed, each represented by an animal. Progress is marked by earning medals or trophies, with the quality of the award improving as the opponents become more challenging. Another distinct mode, called Olympics, has one to six players attempt all four events consecutively to generate a final cumulative score.
