Dance Aerobics Overview
Dance Aerobics is a Nintendo Entertainment System title that utilizes the Power Pad floor mat accessory. The primary activity involves following an on-screen instructor's movements by pressing the corresponding pads with hands and feet in time. Performance is tracked by a mistake counter, and accumulating ten errors during a routine will cause the player to fail that level.
The game's structure features a main mode where routines begin simply and slowly, offering practice time, but grow more complex with less preparation as the player advances. Seven levels exist, each containing a set number of routines that increases from four to thirty-two. Successfully completing a level grants a pass stamp for skipping it in future sessions.
Additional modes are included under the name Pad Antics. These consist of Tune Up and Mat Melodies, which involve triggering musical notes from the mat, with the latter challenging the player to memorize and play songs for points. A third mini-game, Ditto, tasks the player with matching hand and foot positions shown on screen in a manner reminiscent of a solo Twister game.
A separate mode called Aerobics Studios offers a variation on the core gameplay. It presents four pre-unlocked studios with a scoring system that starts at 100 and fluctuates based on performance. This mode has no level progression, and play can continue indefinitely even if the score reaches zero.
