Mappy Land is a game where the player controls a mouse named Mappy. His objective is to gather presents for his girlfriend, Mapica, which forms the central motivation for the action.
This task is complicated by hostile cats led by Nyamco, who pursue Mappy. The player must avoid being caught by these adversaries while completing each stage's specific collection goal. Success requires obtaining six of a designated item, which changes between stages and can include objects like cheese or Christmas trees.
Environmental elements within individual stages provide tools to deal with the feline enemies. The core challenge involves navigating these areas to collect the required items while evading pursuit, making the gameplay challenging.
