Jackal is a two player overhead action game where players control a jeep. The setting involves a rescue mission to free captured soldiers from enemy camps.
Players use a machine gun that fires upward and a grenade launcher that can be upgraded to a bazooka. The primary objective is to find prisoners, escort them to a helicopter extraction point, and then defeat a stage boss.
This NES release is a distinct remake of the arcade original, featuring six defined stages instead of one continuous area. Enemy and obstacle layouts were also altered for this version.
