Golf Grand Slam Overview
Golf Grand Slam is a simulation title for the NES that includes a primary tournament mode and dedicated practice options. Its design focuses on providing tools for players to develop their skills in various technical areas of the sport.
Gameplay involves a multi-step process for each shot. After selecting from a collection of 56 available clubs, the player aligns a cursor with a desired landing point. Further preparations include adjusting stance and grip before the swing.
A challenging element is the final timing task, where a moving dot representing the contact point on the ball must be stopped precisely. The two training modes allow for isolated rehearsal of this mechanic, along with putting and accounting for wind conditions.
The central competitive event is the Golf Grand Slam tournament, where the player faces 29 computer-controlled professional opponents. This mode is intended as the culmination of the practice undertaken in the training sections.
