Rolan's Curse II returns players to a kingdom where a previously defeated ruler, King Barius, has re-emerged from hiding to unleash monsters upon the land. The objective is to defeat these forces and restore peace.
Gameplay involves controlling a knight who can be accompanied by up to three additional allies, with the ability to switch between them during play. Character progression includes leveling up and using magic. The game provides items for emergency assistance and allows flight to specific map locations.
Player progress can be recorded using one of two available save files, enabling sessions to be continued later.
