Shin Bokura no Taiyou: Gyakushuu no Sabata is the third and final Japan-exclusive entry in its series. The narrative continues from the previous game, with the protagonist Django confronting the revived entity Vanargand, who is manipulating Django's former associate Sabata. The outcome of this conflict leads to one of four conclusions.
Central to the experience is the cartridge's solar sensor, which directly influences play. Sunlight intensity determines the availability of environmental features and powers the returning Gun del Sol weapon. This mechanic can alter dungeon navigation, causing water to dry up or revealing concealed paths.
Outside of its signature light-based systems, the game blends puzzle-solving reminiscent of action-adventure titles with stealth segments. A new addition is an arcade-style motorbike sequence that supports two-player competition; the bike's capabilities can be enhanced through collected parts. Combat allows for a transformation into a powered-up state once a gauge is filled by attacking enemies repeatedly.
