Duck Tales 2 is a Game Boy sequel where Scrooge McDuck searches globally for pieces of a treasure map left by his ancestor, Fergus McDuck. The discovery of an initial map fragment by his nephews sets the adventure in motion.
Scrooge navigates environments using his cane as a pogo stick, which also serves to defeat enemies and cross hazards. The cane can be swung against walls and objects to interact with them, a mechanic expanded in this sequel to include pushing and pulling certain items.
Characters from the Disney cartoon, including the nephews, Webby, Mrs. Beakley, and Launchpad McQuack, appear to assist Scrooge. An encounter with the inventor Gyro Gearloose provides a cane upgrade, granting access to new secret areas.
