Little Magic Overview
Little Magic is a top-down puzzle game where the player controls May, an apprentice mage. Her objective in each stage is to manipulate a magic stone onto a specific tile to unlock the exit.
Gameplay revolves around two core abilities: pushing objects from a distance and generating timed magic bubbles. These bubbles come in three sizes, each with a different duration before popping. A bubble's pop can displace adjacent objects, including the stone or other bubbles, allowing for planned chain reactions. This system is essential for solving puzzles, particularly to move the stone across hazards like water that May cannot traverse.
The game introduces increasing complexity through environmental hazards and patterned enemies. New tile types alter movement, such as slowing grass, slippery ice, and single-use collapsing platforms. Other obstacles include spikes that destroy the stone, rune tiles that prevent bubble creation, and teleporters. Enemies follow set paths and can be temporarily halted by bubbles but not eliminated.
As these elements combine, the puzzle design becomes progressively more challenging, requiring careful sequencing of pushes and bubble placements to succeed.
