Puzzled Overview
Puzzled is a strategic puzzle game for the Game Boy Color. Its narrative, which involves a hero transformed into a blob by an evil professor, serves as a backdrop for its core matching mechanics.
Gameplay revolves around a memory-like principle where the player must locate and clear pairs of identical puzzle pieces. To achieve this, the main character can create a clone, and a connection must be made between the blocks occupied by both entities. Progress is measured by completing specific mission goals, which often include clearing all screen elements, hitting certain targets, and ensuring a path to an exit remains open.
The game features a substantial number of levels, totaling 150, with an introductory sequence that gradually reveals all game elements. Completing a level's objectives and reaching the exit grants access to the next stage via a password. Level design incorporates various special blocks and extras, such as teleporters, ice that restricts movement, and tools to manipulate pieces or clear obstructions.
The puzzle complexity increases steadily, and with individual levels potentially taking up to twenty minutes, the overall experience is challenging.
