The Immortal Overview
In The Immortal, the player character explores a multi level dungeon to locate a missing mentor. The isometric perspective combines exploration with inventory based puzzles and direct combat. Progression is fundamentally tied to learning from failure, as hazards and enemy encounters are typically lethal on first attempt.
Interaction with the dungeon's inhabitants varies, ranging from informative or trade based conversations with friendly figures to violent confrontations with hostile ones. The combat system provides a brief telegraph of enemy attacks, allowing the player to choose a dodge or a counter attack from the left or right. This makes the combat challenging but predictable once its patterns are understood.
Puzzle solving involves both environmental navigation and item application. Special sequences, such as navigating a magic carpet or riding a barrel, punctuate the standard exploration. The game lacks a save function but permits unlimited retries on a per level basis, with passwords available to skip ahead.
