Terminator 2: Judgment Day Overview
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a rail-shooter adapted from the film, supporting cooperative play for two participants. Players control reprogrammed Terminators, fighting through environments that span a devastated future and the present day. The arsenal consists of a primary machine gun that can overheat with sustained fire and a more powerful secondary weapon with limited ammunition, such as missile launchers or shotguns depending on the era.
Level progression mirrors key film sequences, beginning with four future-war stages against robotic foes. These initial missions involve assaulting enemy strongholds like the SkyNet computer complex. Upon completing this objective, the action shifts to the past to safeguard the Connors and eliminate all related research, culminating in a confrontation with the T-1000 at a steel mill.
Audio and visual elements incorporate direct movie assets, including voice samples and digital portraits of the actors. For home consoles, the game was retitled T2: The Arcade Game and offered compatibility with lightgun peripherals. Collectible items found within stages provide coolant for the primary weapon or replenish the special ammunition, requiring players to shoot these power-ups to acquire them.
