Terminator 2: Judgment Day Overview
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a rail-shooter adaptation of the film, supporting one or two players. Players control reprogrammed Terminators fighting for the human resistance across two distinct time periods.
The primary armament is a machine gun with unlimited ammunition, though its rate of fire decreases due to overheating during sustained use. A more powerful secondary weapon is available, switching between missile launchers in the future and shotguns in the present, but its ammunition is finite. Items such as extra secondary ammo and coolant for the machine guns are scattered throughout the environments and must be shot to be collected.
The game's seven stages are structured around scenes from the movie. The initial four levels form a prelude set in a post-apocalyptic future, where players battle through a battlefield, a human hideout, and the defenses of the SkyNet computer before destroying it. The narrative then shifts to the past, with the objective of protecting John and Sarah Connor while eliminating SkyNet research at its source. The challenging conclusion involves a prolonged confrontation with the relentless T-1000, culminating in a steel mill.
Authentic movie assets are incorporated, including Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice and digital images of Robert Patrick as the T-1000. For home console releases, the game was renamed T2: The Arcade Game, and versions for the SNES and Genesis offered compatibility with their respective light gun peripherals.
