Total Carnage Overview
Total Carnage is a DOS game where players control either Captain Carnage or Major Mayhem, two soldiers known as the Doomsday Squad. Their mission is to confront the dictator General Akhboob, who seized power in Kookistan after a war and commands an army of radioactive mutants from a fortified stronghold.
The gameplay involves navigating through twenty distinct battlezones, moving in all directions including diagonally. Players face constant opposition from numerous mutants while attempting to rescue hostages. A primary machine gun is always available, supplemented by various collectible weapons such as flamethrowers, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, and several types of bombs and specialized rifles.
This top-down action title supports both solo play and a simultaneous cooperative mode for two players. The objective is to stop Akhboob's plans for global conquest, a task presented as challenging due to the relentless enemy forces and the scale of the operation.
