Scorched Earth Overview
Scorched Earth is a turn based artillery game where players control tanks in a landscape of hills and valleys. Combat involves aiming cannons while accounting for factors like wind and projectile trajectory.
Before a round begins, participants can buy equipment including weapons, defensive shields, and parachutes to soften falls. The arsenal extends beyond standard missiles, featuring items like napalm and dirt bombs which can bury opponents or create protective cover. Some weapons have unique behaviors, such as a bomb that fragments into unpredictable smaller explosives.
The experience includes a layer of personality through taunts and comments triggered by firing a shot or destroying a tank. These text messages are customizable by editing game files. The objective is to eliminate the opposing tanks through strategic bombardment.
