Rome: Pathway to Power Overview
Rome: Pathway to Power is a DOS game whose narrative spans a rise from slavery to imperial rule in Ancient Rome. The journey begins in Herculaneum, a city later destroyed by Mount Vesuvius, before the protagonist moves to Rome itself.
Gameplay shifts between two primary modes. For much of the experience, it functions as an adventure game, with the player navigating detailed environments that include public baths and gladiatorial markets. The other segments involve direct military command, where leading an army to conquer Rome's enemies is the objective.
Progression is marked by attaining increasingly powerful social and political roles, including military captain, senator, and finally emperor. Throughout this ascent, the player encounters various problems that can be approached with a degree of freedom, choosing how to resolve them.
