Operation Wolf Overview

Alt. Names: Operation Wolf: Take No Prisoners, オペレーション・ウルフ

Operation Wolf is a rail shooter originally released for arcades by Taito. The player controls a gun to engage a fixed path of enemies across several missions, with the objective of rescuing prisoners.

Gameplay involves shooting a wide array of hostile targets, including soldiers, ninjas, and vehicles like patrol boats and helicopters. The primary weapon is a machine gun effective against all foes, while a grenade launcher is better suited for heavily armored threats. Players must manage resources, as ammunition and grenades are limited but can be replenished by shooting corresponding items that appear. A temporary power-up provides a faster firing rate.

The opposition is challenging, employing varied tactics such as gunfire and thrown projectiles. Some enemies can dodge or withstand multiple hits. Players can destroy incoming grenades and knives mid-flight with accurate shots. While non-combatants are present, harming them offers no advantage.

Certain missions conclude with a boss encounter, each possessing a distinct vulnerability that must be identified and exploited to succeed.
