Doom II: Hell On Earth Overview
Doom II continues the story of the space marine from the first game, who now finds Earth overrun by demons. His objective is to disable a force field protecting a star port, enabling human survivors to evacuate the planet.
The core experience remains a first-person shooter where players navigate 3D environments, defeat enemies, and solve simple environmental puzzles like locating keys and activating switches. It uses the same graphical technology as its predecessor, rendering worlds in 3D while representing foes with 2D sprites.
This installment introduces a longer, continuous campaign of thirty levels, plus two secret ones, moving away from the episodic structure of the original. New adversaries present a challenging threat, including units that wield chainguns, fire homing projectiles, or unleash powerful area-of-effect attacks. The player's arsenal is expanded with the addition of a super shotgun.
