Metaltech: EarthSiege Overview
Metaltech: EarthSiege is a first-person simulation where players pilot heavily armed HERCs in combat. The primary adversaries are Cybrids, which are intelligent cyborg hybrids created by humanity that have since rebelled.
Gameplay involves a campaign of 45 missions with objectives that include escort, protection, and direct assault across varied terrain. The experience is presented as challenging, with a recommendation for control schemes beyond just the keyboard for optimal play. Mission briefings are delivered through Full Motion Video clips from a commander, providing narrative context for the ongoing war.
Strategic management outside of combat is a key component. This encompasses customizing the HERC's weapon loadouts, directing research into new technologies, and gathering resources like salvageable metals to strengthen capabilities against the Cybrid threat.
While its mechanical and visual style is similar to titles in the BattleTech universe, EarthSiege exists as a separate intellectual property not affiliated with FASA or the MechWarrior series.
