Karateka Overview

Karateka is a side-view martial arts game where the player controls a protagonist on a quest to rescue Princess Mariko from the villain Akuma, who has devastated the hero's homeland. The journey involves a series of one-on-one fights against progressively challenging opponents.
Combat is based on a system of three distinct heights for both punches and kicks, used by the player and enemies alike. The protagonist's health will slowly regenerate if he remains stationary, a mechanic that can influence the pacing of encounters.
