Epic is a space shooter set against a narrative of interstellar exodus. Humanity's fleet, seeking a new home to escape a dying sun, must traverse territory controlled by the hostile Rexxons.
Gameplay alternates between space combat and planetary surface missions. A defining feature at release was its graphical presentation, which contributed to a relatively brief experience of nine levels. The progression is punctuated by numerous cutscenes accompanied by music from Holst's The Planets.
