Cold Dreams Overview
Cold Dreams is a DOS game set on the red planet Swandah, where the player takes on the role of a galactic knight. The objective involves navigating a hazardous underground maze, a setting inspired by "Sword and Planet" adventure tales. This environment is segmented into three distinct worlds, with the shareware release providing access only to the initial section.
Gameplay revolves around progressing through interconnected stages, which requires obtaining specific keys and avoiding numerous traps and hostile creatures. To manage these threats, the player has access to five specialized weapons, each effective against particular enemies or obstacles. Additional items like life boosters, bombs, and shields can be collected and deployed as needed.
A key strategic element is a programmable robot companion. This device can be directed to follow, remain stationary, or explore areas via remote control. It can be armed and is essential for solving certain puzzles, including reaching otherwise inaccessible locations.
